Maker Faire was a glowing success at Lima Primary last week, and next week the Firefly Friends at Mendon Public Library will be earning their orange firefly patches! That means it’s time to register for “Share and Care,” the next wing of classes in the Firefly Friends core curriculum. The weekly themes for “Share and Care” are: Sharing, Thanking, Helping, Caring. Participants will still get to visit with Juniper the firefly puppet each week, of course! They will also hear new stories, make new crafts, help light up the green firefly jar, and earn their green firefly patch this time!
Pre-registration for current families is now over and open registration is underway. Class size is limited but some spots are still available in the Monday morning group, which will meet from 10:30-11:05am on 11.13, 11.27, 12.4, and 12.11. There are no classes during Thanksgiving week. Please call the Mendon Public Library at 585.624.6067 to register. Classes are free. A donation of $10 is greatly appreciated to help with the cost of the month’s craft supplies. Please note that the Wednesday group, (which will meet from 12:30-1:05pm on 11.15, 11.29, 12.6, and 12.13) is completely full.
It’s true! I will be volunteering at this year’s Maker Faire at Lima Primary School! Many of my little Firefly Friends at the Mendon Public Library have older siblings currently enrolled at Lima Primary, so this is a wonderful opportunity for their big brothers and big sisters to make some special firefly creations of their very own! My “Firefly Friends” booth will be open from 12:30-2:30pm on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Lima Primary School in Lima, NY. I’m bringing lots of colorful and luminous supplies to spark the children’s imaginations and inspire them to create whatever makes their inner light shine! And in case you were wondering, there will be antennae making that day!
We’re halfway through the first wing of Firefly Friends and everyone is having a wonderful time singing, getting the firefly jar to light up, visiting feeling with Juniper the firefly puppet, listening to stories, and making keepsake crafts! October is just around the corner and it’s already time to sign up for “Grow and Glow,” the second wing of the Firefly Friends curriculum! There will still be two sections for this four-week session, but we’re trying out a Monday 12:30-1:05pm section this time in addition to keeping the Wednesday 12:30-1:05pm section. Caregivers and their children ages 2-5 can register for either the Monday group which will meet 10.16, 10.23, 10.30 and 11.6 or the Wednesday group which will meet 10.18, 10.25, 11.1 and 11.6. In “Grow and Glow,” we will be focusing on four new weekly themes: Wishing, Learning, Changing, and Shining. Class size is limited to 11 children per section. Please call the Mendon Public Library at 585.624.6067 soon to secure a spot so your little one can earn their orange firefly patch!
I’m so thrilled to announce that registration is open for “Your Light is Bright,” the first “wing” of Firefly Friends, which will meet Wednesdays 9.20.17., 9.27.17, 10.4.17, and 10.11.17! The community response has been so positive that the 12:30 class at Mendon Public Library has already filled! In order to accommodate more families, the library is currently taking names for me to lead a potential 1:30 class on the same dates. Interested parents/caregivers of children ages 2-5 are invited to call MPL at 585.624.6067 to get on the list. The weekly themes for “Your Light is Bright” are: Happiness, Brightness, Uniqueness, and Kindness. I’m looking forward to enjoying stories, songs, and crafts together!
