All classes are taught by Jennifer DeVille Catalano, the founder and director of Firefly Friends.  The core library classes are presented in 4-week modules called “wings,” with one meeting per week.   Class duration is 35 minutes, and includes the opening song, visiting feelings with Juniper the firefly puppet, story time, sharing time, craft time, and the closing song.

The target group is children ages 2-5, with their parent or caregiver present.  At the end of each of the four “wings,” children earn a firefly patch of a specific color.

Songs, stories, and crafts presented in Firefly Friends classes are non-commercial and non-denominational in nature.

After completing the sixteen-week core curriculum of Firefly Friends, children enjoy a “taking flight” class during which they receive their fluorescent patch.  Beyond that there are ten additional weeks of programming that review and build on the core values of Firefly Friends while introducing new material: “Love Where You Live” followed by “Flower Power.” These courses run until the end of the preschool year with the same class structure, but entirely new crafts, stories, and themes.  Overall, Firefly Friends offers your little one a total of twenty-seven weeks of gathering for stories, songs, and crafts, seven special patches, and the joyful ability to shine his or her bright light in the world.
